The Ministry of Healing

The Worker’s Need (Part 21)

Chapter 43—A Higher Experience (Part 5)

Now the church is militant. Now we are confronted with a world in darkness, almost wholly given over to idolatry.

The Divine Counselor

When in trouble, many think they must appeal to some earthly friend, telling him their perplexities, and begging for help. Under trying circumstances unbelief fills their hearts, and the way seems dark. And all the time there stands beside them the mighty Counselor of the ages, inviting them to place their confidence in Him. Jesus, the great Burden Bearer, is saying, “Come unto Me, and I will give you rest.” Shall we turn from Him to uncertain human beings, who are as dependent upon God as we ourselves are?

You may feel the deficiency of your character and the smallness of your ability in comparison with the greatness of the work. But if you had the greatest intellect ever given to man, it would not be sufficient for your work. “Without Me ye can do nothing,” says our Lord and Saviour. John 15:5. The result of all we do rests in the hands of God. Whatever may betide, lay hold upon Him with steady, persevering confidence.

In your business, in companionship for leisure hours, and in alliance for life, let all the associations you form be entered upon with earnest, humble prayer. You will thus show that you honor God, and God will honor you. Pray when you are fainthearted. When you are desponding, close the lips firmly to men; do not shadow the path of others; but tell everything to Jesus. Reach up your hands for help. In your weakness lay hold of infinite strength. Ask for humility, wisdom, courage, increase of faith, that you may see light in God’s light and rejoice in His love.

Dear Heavenly Father, Thank You that we can always depend on You for all the wisdom we need in every circumstance. Please bless us to not lean on humanity for what we must trust only to You. Thank You for the assurance of Your Holy Spirit to work within us to reflect the love and character and courage and faith of Jesus Christ. Please bless us to be men and women of prayer. Please bless us so that our petitions will not be faint, occasional, and fitful, but earnest, persevering, and constant. Please bless us to wholly submit to Your divine power that others will see You in us—that we are one with You as You are with Your Son Jesus—and be drawn into a saving relationship with You to experience joy in You here and now. Please bless us to have a communion with You that will ennoble our character and life—one that will move men to take knowledge of us, as of the first disciples, that we have been with Jesus. We desire that we might have the mind of Christ to save souls and enjoy His experience of perfect obedience to Your will that we might one day soon stand in Thy glorious presence without fear of death. Thank You, because we ask it in the Awesome and Almighty name of Your Son, Jesus, our Saving King. Amen.

How to effectively pray – Part 12

Breaking down and destroying strongholds.

Chapter 3 Cont’d

8 Vital principles

Yet, there are eight other vital principles that further empower prayer for the salvation of souls:

#1. Brokenness

“They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.‖ Psalm 126:5

Brokenness is the first law of spiritual harvest. True intercessory prayer begins with a heart that feels the weight of eternal souls. God cannot bless prayers motivated by self-interest or pride. But when we pray with tears for Lost souls—like Christ who wept over Jerusalem—then we sow into a harvest guaranteed by God’s promise.

“He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him. Psalm 126:6

#2. Travail

Just as no child is born without labor, no sinner is born again without spiritual travail. Isaiah described this viv-

idly: “Before she travailed, she brought forth; before her pain came, she was delivered of a man child.

Who hath heard such a thing? who hath seen such things? Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? or shall a nation be born at once? for as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children. Isaiah 66:7–10

Spiritual rebirth demands laboring in prayer. God responds to the cry of Zion, His people, when they rise up in intercession with holy urgency. As God Himself says: “Shall I bring to the birth, and not cause to bring forth?… Rejoice ye with Jerusalem, and be glad with her, all ye that love her be glad with her, all ye that love her: rejoice for joy with her, all ye that mourn for her. Isaiah 66:7-10

Webster’s 1828 Dictionary defines Travail as: “Labor with pain; severe toil. To labor with pain; to toil.

) חול – Strong’s Concordance – H2342 (chuwl/chiyl A primitive root; properly to twist or whirl … to writhe in pain (especially of childbirth), or fear; figuratively to wait, to pervert—bear, bring forth, grieve, hope, make, sorrow, travail, tremble, be wounded. We must allow our hearts to be wounded for the salvation of others—just as Jesus’ heart was. Luke 22:44 “And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground. Yes, so much in agony that he sweat until blood came from his pores. This is the soul-travail that breaks open heaven’s gates and unlocks hardened hearts. Sadly, very few have ever agonized this deeply in prayer for the salvation of another soul. Yet this is precisely what Jesus did. He travailed for us. He bled in prayer. He bore the weight of the Lost before they even asked for it. Christ described salvation as being “Born Again—a spiritual birth requiring the same kind of pain and intensity a mother experiences in physical birth. The apostle Paul echoed this when he said: “My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you. Galatians 4:19

Like a father observing the labor pains of his wife, many Christians today fail to comprehend the cost required to bring a soul to new life. Most professing believers have never travailed for the lost—indeed, statistics suggest that 97% never lead even one soul to Jesus. This is a tragic reality. But it also reveals the crisis of comfortable Christianity. There is a price to pay for souls—and that price is brokenness, earnest intercession, and time spent in warfare prayer. Our tears. Our labor. Our spiritual agony.

These are the tools heaven uses to break chains and bring the new birth unto eternal life.

The Ministry of Healing

The Worker’s Need (Part 20)

Chapter 43—A Higher Experience (Part 4)

Now the church is militant. Now we are confronted with a world in darkness, almost wholly given over to idolatry.

The Privilege of Prayer

We, too, must have times set apart for meditation and prayer and for receiving spiritual refreshing. We do not value the power and efficacy of prayer as we should. Prayer and faith will do what no power on earth can accomplish. We are seldom, in all respects, placed in the same position twice. We continually have new scenes and new trials to pass through, where past experience cannot be a sufficient guide. We must have the continual light that comes from God.

Christ is ever sending messages to those who listen for His voice. On the night of the agony in Gethsemane, the sleeping disciples heard not the voice of Jesus. They had a dim sense of the angels’ presence, but lost the power and glory of the scene. Because of their drowsiness and stupor they failed of receiving the evidence that would have strengthened their souls for the terrible scenes before them. Thus today the very men who most need divine instruction often fail of receiving it, because they do not place themselves in communion with heaven.

The temptations to which we are daily exposed make prayer a necessity. Dangers beset every path. Those who are seeking to rescue others from vice and ruin are especially exposed to temptation. In constant contact with evil, they need a strong hold upon God lest they themselves be corrupted. Short and decisive are the steps that lead men down from high and holy ground to a low level. In a moment decisions may be made that fix one’s condition forever. One failure to overcome leaves the soul unguarded. One evil habit, if not firmly resisted, will strengthen into chains of steel, binding the whole man.

The reason why so many are left to themselves in places of temptation is that they do not set the Lord always before them. When we permit our communion with God to be broken, our defense is departed from us. Not all your good purposes and good intentions will enable you to withstand evil. You must be men and women of prayer. Your petitions must not be faint, occasional, and fitful, but earnest, persevering, and constant. It is not always necessary to bow upon your knees in order to pray. Cultivate the habit of talking with the Saviour when you are alone, when you are walking, and when you are busy with your daily labor. Let the heart be continually uplifted in silent petition for help, for light, for strength, for knowledge. Let every breath be a prayer.

As workers for God we must reach men where they are, surrounded with darkness, sunken in vice, and stained with corruption. But while we stay our minds upon Him who is our sun and our shield, the evil that surrounds us will not bring one stain upon our garments. As we work to save the souls that are ready to perish we shall not be put to shame if we make God our trust. Christ in the heart, Christ in the life, this is our safety. The atmosphere of His presence will fill the soul with abhorrence of all that is evil. Our spirit may be so identified with His that in thought and aim we shall be one with Him.

It was through faith and prayer that Jacob, from being a man of feebleness and sin, became a prince with God. It is thus that you may become men and women of high and holy purpose, of noble life, men and women who will not for any consideration be swayed from truth, right, and justice. All are pressed with urgent cares, burdens, and duties, but the more difficult your position and the heavier your burdens, the more you need Jesus.

It is a serious mistake to neglect the public worship of God. The privileges of divine service should not be lightly regarded. Those who attend upon the sick are often unable to avail themselves of these privileges, but they should be careful not to absent themselves needlessly from the house of worship.

In ministering to the sick, more than in any merely secular business, success depends on the spirit of consecration and self-sacrifice with which the work is done. Those who bear responsibilities need to place themselves where they will be deeply impressed by the Spirit of God. You should have as much greater anxiety than do others for the aid of the Holy Spirit and for a knowledge of God as your position of trust is more responsible than that of others.

Nothing is more needed in our work than the practical results of communion with God. We should show by our daily lives that we have peace and rest in the Saviour. His peace in the heart will shine forth in the countenance. It will give to the voice a persuasive power. Communion with God will ennoble the character and the life. Men will take knowledge of us, as of the first disciples, that we have been with Jesus. This will impart to the worker a power that nothing else can give. Of this power he must not allow himself to be deprived.

We must live a twofold life—a life of thought and action, of silent prayer and earnest work. The strength received through communion with God, united with earnest effort in training the mind to thoughtfulness and caretaking, prepares one for daily duties and keeps the spirit in peace under all circumstances, however trying.

The last, final test of true Love (Agape) – Part 3

The seventh-day (Sabbath) of Elohim

Thirty-five reasons Why I keep the Sabbath

8. Because the Sabbath is God’s flag.

God has a Flag: I (God) will set up My ensign, Isa. 49:22 R.V.

“Thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I will lift up mine hand to the Gentiles, and set up my standard to the people: and they shall bring thy sons in their arms, and thy daughters shall be carried upon their shoulders.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭49‬:‭22‬ ‭KJV‬‬

A Flag is a sign:

“They set up their ensigns for signs” Ps. 74:4

God’s sign is His Sabbath:

“I gave them My Sabbaths, to be a SIGN.” Exe. 20:12, 20

“It [my Sabbath] is a SIGN.” Ex. 31:13

“It [my Sabbath] is a SIGN….forever.” Ex. 31:17

Since God has a flag . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Isa. 49:22 R.V.

And a flag is a sign . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Ps. 74:4

And God’s sign is His Sabbath . . . . . Eze. 20:12, 20

Therefore God’s FLAG IS HIS SABBATH….Things equal to the same things are equal to each other.

God took of the fabric of time and made Himself an ensign for eternity. He made a unit of time by the rolling of a globe, and He called that unit day. He took a handful of days, seven, and made them a week. And of that week He took the last day, the seventh, and made it the Sabbath. That Sabbath is His sign, His emblem, His FLAG.

A flag is more than a mere piece of cloth. It is a special piece of cloth consecrated to the definite purpose of signifying all that a government is and has. So is the Sabbath. It is more than merely a day. It is a special day. Like the cloth in a flag it is a piece of time that has a special significance, being consecrated by God Himself to represent the government of God with all its power, purpose, and privilege. The Sabbath, therefore, is as different from any other day as the flag is different from any piece of cloth.

Since the Sabbath is the flag of God’s Kingdom and I am a subject of God’s Kingdom, I want to see the HOME FLAG flutter because it speaks of the homeland. Just as Old Glory has gathered people out of all nations to America and it is a sign of America, so God’s flag reminds us that we are strangers and pilgrims in a foreign land (Heb. 11:13), that our home is far away upon a golden strand.

The Sabbath is God’s flag all the way from Paradise Lost toParadise Regained and under it will finally rally the faithful who will be gathered from earth’s remotest bounds. Isa. 11:12

Since no flag could take the place of Old Glory to the true American; so no other day could take the place of God’s seventh-day Sabbath to the true Christian. Any flag won’t do; neither will any day do. It is nothing short of high treason to disrespect God’s flag. Men have too long scuffed God’s Old Glory under their feet. It is high time to rally round the flag of God and let it wave as our standard forever. At any cost, we must be as loyal to and true to God’s flag as Barbara Frietchie was to the Stars and Stripes when she stated; “Shoot, if you must, this old gray head But spare your country’s flag, she said.”

How to effectively pray – Part 11

Breaking down and destroying strongholds.

CHAPTER 3

PERSONAL MOTIVATING FACTORS

There are two essential elements involved in every answered prayer: Righteousness and Faith. We have heard much in the last 40+ years about righteousness by faith, until one‘s head can feel like a bumble bees nest with all the confusion such emphasis has brought. But put very simply: Righteousness by faith means Doing Right through Faith that Jesus, the Only Begotten Son of God, has ALL POWER in heaven and earth to KEEP us FROM FALLING and to present us FAULTLESS before the presence of his Father‘s glory. The imputed righteousness

of Christ—that is, justification received through repentance—is granted to the believer by faith in the shed blood of Jesus. His righteousness cleanses us from all sin and gives us holy, humble ―boldness to come before the throne of grace. Hebrews 4:16. It is absolutely essential for prevailing prayer. However, personal holiness also plays a

crucial role. As Psalm 66:18 declares:“ If I regard iniquity

in my heart, the Lord will not hear me.

Jesus further confirmed this principle in John 15:7:

“ If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. John 15:7.

In other words—Christians living in OBEDIENCE to all of God‘s Commandments get their prayers answered. Do

NOT expect to be able to pray for the salvation of a loved

one, then get up off your knees and go steal time from

your boss or look at porn while committing fornication, &

etc…Your prayers will NOT be heard!! Satan will accuse you before the Father, and he will have to say.―Objection sustained!

The second indispensable factor in answered prayer is faith. Faith operates as an unbreakable law in the spiritual realm. Jesus said: “ According to your faith be it unto you. Matthew 9:29. If you pray for someone, yet in the back of your mind you are thinking–he/she has been in rebellion for 25 years! I really cannot see how they are going to turn around now. Unbelief is a continual threat to effective prayer. It hinders the flow of God’s answers and is often the hidden cause of spiritual stagnation. To effectively pray for the Lost, we must walk in both imputed righteousness (justification through Christ) and imparted righteousness (sanctification through obedience to all of God’s commands), as well as sincere faith that trusts God hears and answers.

Scripture confirms that God desires all to be saved: “The Lord is… not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9

Chapter 43—A Higher Experience (Part 3)

Now the church is militant. Now we are confronted with a world in darkness, almost wholly given over to idolatry.

In the Mount With God

“Come up to Me into the mount,” God bids us. To Moses, before he could be God’s instrument in delivering Israel, was appointed the forty years of communion with Him in the mountain solitudes. Before bearing God’s message to Pharaoh, he spoke with the angel in the burning bush. Before receiving God’s law as the representative of His people, he was called into the mount, and beheld His glory. Before executing justice on the idolaters, he was hidden in the cleft of the rock, and the Lord said, “I will proclaim the name of the Lord before thee,” “merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abundant in loving-kindness and truth; … and that will by no means clear the guilty.” Exodus 33:1934:6, 7, A.R.V. Before he laid down, with his life, his burden for Israel, God called him to the top of Pisgah and spread out before him the glory of the Promised Land.

Before the disciples went forth on their mission, they were called up into the mount with Jesus. Before the power and glory of Pentecost, came the night of communion with the Saviour, the meeting on the mountain in Galilee, the parting scene upon Olivet, with the angel’s promise, and the days of prayer and communion in the upper chamber.

Jesus, when preparing for some great trial or some important work, would resort to the solitude of the mountains and spend the night in prayer to His Father. A night of prayer preceded the ordination of the apostles and the Sermon on the Mount, the transfiguration, the agony of the judgment hall and the cross, and the resurrection glory.

The last, final test of true Love (Agape) – Part 2

The seventh-day (Sabbath) of Elohim

Thirty-five reasons Why I keep the Sabbath

6. Because the seventh day Sabbath is the LORDS DAY.

All through the Bible we are repeatedly told that the Lord has a definite and special day. The Lord’s regard for the Lord’s day is stressed in terms of possession. For example, as I would say of my hat: “Correia’s hat of Correia, or my hat;” so the Lord shows His possessions of His day by calling it: “The Lord’s day, day of the Lord, or My day.” Notice the following texts:

“The Lord’s day.” Rev. 1:10.

“Lord even of the Sabbath day.” Matt. 12:8.

“Lord also of the Sabbath.” Mark 2:28; Luke 6:5.

“My holy day.” Is.58:13; Neh. 9:14; Ex. 31:15; Lev. 19:3, 30.

“The seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord.” Ex. 20:10.

“The seventh day. . .is the Sabbath of the Lord.” Deut.5:14, Lev. 23:3.

Who can doubt the plain statement of the Holy Bible when it gives all there Scriptural witnesses to testify that the seventh day Sabbath is the Lord’s day?

7. Because the Sabbath is the SIGN between God and His people forever.

As every article has its particular brand or trade-mark to establish its genuineness, as every policeman has a badge to vindicate his authority, as every official has his seal to ascertain his identification and power, so God has a visible mark or sign between Him and His people that forever distinguishes them. TheBible Plainly states what this sign is: “I gave them my Sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them.” Eze. 20:12

“Hallow my SABBATHS; and they shall be a SIGN between Me and you.” Eze. 20:20

“My SABBATHS ye shall keep: for it is a sign between Me and you.” Ex. 31:13

“It is a SIGN between Me and the children of Israel FOREVER.” Ex. 31:17

8. Because the Sabbath is God’s flag.

God has a Flag:

I (God) will set up My ensign, Isa.
