The day we offer up worship to God absolutely, unequivocally matters to Him. Period.
All throughout God’s holy scriptures He makes very clear what He requires of His people. He relays to us clearly in great detail. There is no room for doubt. Study through His word, first seek God in prayer for His Holy Spirit, and be guided into all truth, and given understanding.
From the very beginning, the issue with Cain was that he was upset, angry that God did not accept his worship; but, that He accepted Abel’s worship. Abel obeyed God, did exactly what God told him—he didn’t substitute anything, nor did he think that he could do something better than what God told him to do. Cain worshipped God how he wanted to. Cain disobeyed, disregarded God.
In every day we live in this earth, in all our living, in our marriages, in everywhere we go, in all that we do, every choice we make—in everything we daily live worship unto God or Satan. The choices we make daily are evidence of who our father/master is: God or Satan. Still there is only one day—the seventh (Saturday) in which God inhabits, His holiness is filled up in the entire day. We are to keep it holy: Cherish Him, hold Him near and dear in our minds; protect, guard our sacred time and union with Him. Remember, God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. God is righteous and in Him is no unrighteousness.
The seventh day is the Lord’s day: Christ said He is Lord of the sabbath: The seventh day. God only blessed, sanctified holy the seventh day. The seventh day—the sabbath is holy “ground”. God does not play about His holy things. The seventh day—the Sabbath is more than just ”a day”. The Sabbath is Who God is for it contains, it is filled up with His holy presence, His very existence—the seventh day He blessed and sanctified it. Period.
“For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day.”
Matthew 12:8 KJV
The Sabbath is holy ground” because of God’s presence —just like the ground on which Moses stood, and the bush burned but was not consumed. Read Exodus 3:2-6 KJV.
The first day of the week (Sunday) is the first work day of the week. Period. The first day through the sixth day God declared all He created each day “good”. At the end of creation, He declared “very good”.
The first day through the sixth day God did not bless, sanctify holy. They are days we are to be about our daily living, laboring, all the daily life task: Laboring earning wages, cooking, cleaning, paying bills, taking care of finances, common activities, all common talk, etc.
God gave us six days to do all that pertains to our physical lives daily, in which we are to put Him first having time with Him in prayer, study of His word early before we go about our day, and before we lay down for the night—early to rise, early to bed. We have balance—balancing being in harmony with God every day—by faith, by His Spirit living by every word that procedeth out of the mouth of God.
Read Exodus 16:28-30 KJV
“And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.”
Genesis 2:2-3 KJV
“for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.”
Exodus 20:11 KJV
Know that the Sabbath, the seventh day (now known as Saturday) is set aside for holy use. God is holy, His people are to be holy. We by faith love the Sabbath, we delight in it, and we live unto God loving Him supremely. The blessings in keeping His Sabbath holy are extras! Praise God!
“If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words: then shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.”
Isaiah 58:13-14 KJV
“For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works. And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest. Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief: again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, Harden not your hearts.”
Hebrews 4:4-7 KJV
“Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him. By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.”
1 John 5:1-3 KJV
The conclusion of the whole matter:
“Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.”
Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 KJV
