We pray to God for deliverance. We ask Him to give us victory over sin. Yet, when He does, we turn right back to our vomit and wonder why we cannot overcome.
We accuse God of not giving us the victory. We refuse to see that the real problem is the choices we’ve made. The works of our own hands cause the strongholds upon us.
We ask God to heal us. But then we tend to let our bellies be our gods. Let’s use appetite, for example.
We ask God for victory over eating pork. Yet, we purchase Wham and other meat analogues, wanting them to taste just like ham. We purchase plant- and chemical- based meat analogues and plant-based cheeses that contain other harmful things. We are searching for that taste, which reminds us of the real thing. We shame God. We deny His Power (Grace) to deliver us. We turn back to our vomit!
We turn back to sin. We do not even see ourselves, because we justify it. We shrug our shoulders and say, “It is plant based.”
We show our nakedness by the desire for that taste. It is still in us. That which is in us defiles us. For as a man thinks, so is he.
Jesus healed the sin sick soul and commanded him to go and sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon him (John 5:14).
There are tests that God will allow us to experience, which show us our own spiritual state of heart. He knows our heart. We do not.
Daily, we should examine ourselves by the Word of God, led by the Holy Spirit. We are to acknowledge our sins. We are to confess each sin specifically to God. We are to repent and forsake every sin, so that God through His Holy Spirit can convert us.
If we are trying to hold on to the old in any way, we cannot overcome. Victory is voided.
