Love Heals

Healing begins with putting your faith in God’s love for you. Go ahead. Test it. Try all the treatments you want. But until you add to your regimen that special ingredient—the prayer of faith—healing will not be complete. Instead, disease can stick around or seem to disappear only to resurge just at what may seem to be the worst of times for you and your family.

Here’s my very basic point. I recently treated a dry patch of skin with nightly applications of castor oil. I noticed that the dry patch lingered about a week without even a hint of going away. I wondered why, until I realized that I had not prayed about it. I thanked God for the reminder. Then I humbly asked for forgiveness and asked for healing. Within one day, I began experiencing drastic improvement. I kid you not.

It was amazing and very confirming that nothing should be attempted without prayer to our heavenly Father, who loves us and is tenderly affected by our needs. And then I found this statement that put it all together for me—for you.

“The love which Christ diffuses through the whole being is a vitalizing power. Every vital part—the brain, the heart, the nerves—it touches with healing. By it the highest energies of the being are roused to activity. It frees the soul from the guilt and sorrow, the anxiety and care, that crush the life forces. With it come serenity and composure. It implants in the soul, joy that nothing earthly can destroy,—joy in the Holy Spirit,—health-giving, life-giving joy. {MH 115.3}

“Our Saviour’s words, “Come unto Me, … and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28), are a prescription for the healing of physical, mental, and spiritual ills. Though men have brought suffering upon themselves by their own wrongdoing, He regards them with pity. In Him they may find help. He will do great things for those who trust in Him.” {MH 115.4}

Go ahead, begin your healing now with prayer. Dear heavenly Father, thank you for offering me a love that heals. I want it Lord and receive it in the way that you want it for me—be it physical, emotional, and/or spiritual. I trust your wisdom to do what is in my best interest and for my salvation. Thank you for hearing and answering, because I’m asking in the name of your Son, Jesus. Amen.

As you trust in the Savior, the one who created you, you will desire to modify your lifestyle for abundant living. For one, you will eat a healthy plant-based diet. You will drink only fresh water or herbal teas and only between meals, while avoiding all things harmful. You will walk in the fresh air for your daily sun bath. Exposing your face and hands (when possible) to absorb that sunlight, which helps the skin manufacture vitamin D. And vitamin D is essential to the health of the bones, the brain, blood pressure, and the body’s ability to maintain and regain vitality.

Finally, you will be determined to get good whole-body rest.
