Wisdom is having divine instruction. It is then living that wisdom with discretion and understanding. It is following that divine instruction by faith and not only finding life but prospering in it abundantly.
Proverbs 3:13-22 KJV
[13] Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding. [14] For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold. [15] She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her. [16] Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour. [17] Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. [18] She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth her. [19] The Lord by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens. [20] By his knowledge the depths are broken up, and the clouds drop down the dew. [21] My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion: [22] So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace (divine favor) to thy neck.
Proverbs 4:20-23 KJV [20] My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. [21] Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. [22] For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh. [23] Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
When we hear the Word of God and we do it, that is wisdom. It shows that God’s love is in us. Wisdom is lived when we not only hear It but do It. When we truly know It, have It, understand It, and believe It, we love It. And we tend to do what we love.
The Wisdom of God is put within those who are redeemed. They are of God. Their names are written and remain in Heaven.
Wisdom is not simply lip service. Wisdom is having the Power, the Word, the love of God, the Spirit of God in us. Thus, having repented, we are created anew. We are born again. We have become a new creature.
Wisdom is not only living wisely. It is living by faith. Those who live by faith are sometimes called the Just. They have been justified and saved of God. They have His grace (unmerited favor) and draw upon His virtue (divine power) in overcoming sin. And they are victorious over sin. Living by faith and by the virtue of God, they live uprightly and godly. They live what they believe. They become holy unto God.
Wisdom is living righteously, because of the righteousness of Christ within. The key to knowing Christ and living His righteousness is in searching for Him with your whole heart and in feasting on His Word. (Read 2 Chronicles 15:15; Jeremiah 24:7; 29:13; and John 6:48-63.) For “with the ancient is wisdom; and in length of days understanding. With him is wisdom and strength, he hath counsel and understanding” (Job 12:12-13). (Also read Job 28:14-27). “And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding” (Job 28:28). “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever” (Psalm 111:10).
Proverbs 2:10-17 KJV
[10] When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul; [11] Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee: [12] To deliver thee from the way of the evil man, from the man that speaketh froward things; [13] Who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness; [14] Who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the frowardness of the wicked; [15] Whose ways are crooked, and they froward in their paths: [16] To deliver thee from the strange woman, even from the stranger which flattereth with her words; [17] Which forsaketh the guide of her youth, and forgetteth the covenant of her God.
Proverbs 4:1-13 KJV
[1] Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding. [2] For I give you good doctrine, forsake ye not my law. [3] For I was my father’s son, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother. [4] He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live. [5] Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth. [6] Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee. [7] Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding. [8] Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her. [9] She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee. [10] Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of thy life shall be many. [11] I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths. [12] When thou goest, thy steps shall not be straitened; and when thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble. [13] Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is thy life.
Ecclesiastes 7:11-12 KJV
[11] Wisdom is good with an inheritance: and by it there is profit to them that see the sun. [12] For wisdom is a defence, and money is a defence: but the excellency of knowledge is, that wisdom giveth life to them that have it.
Matthew 11:19 (Also Luke 7:34, 35) KJV The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children.
James 3:13 KJV Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.
1 Corinthians 2:6-8 KJV
[6] Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought: [7] But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: [8] Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
