To be born again we must admit a few things about ourselves. We must come to see our own filthiness. We must acknowledge our own idols. We must be willing to change our habits of living and anything negative or unhealthy that we associate with, even joined ourselves to.
But how can one acknowledge their sin or see that something is wrong or bad, or admit to defects in their character, if they have no idea what exactly is wrong, sinful or bad?
Hear this. The Creator, Redeemer, the God of our salvation says, “Therefore my people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge: and their honourable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst” (Isaiah 5:13). “For my people is foolish, they have not known me; they are sottish children, and they have none understanding: they are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge” (Jeremiah 4:22). ”Hear the word of the LORD, ye children of Israel: for the LORD hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land. My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children” (Hosea 4:1,6).
How do we come to the knowledge of God, His ways, His law of love, His law His whole Word? By beholding Him daily. By communing with Him in prayer. By meditating on His Word. He will speak to us through His Spirit in His Word. Seek God daily in His Word. Seek Him in prayer. Search for Him with all your heart. You can find Him in His Holy Scripture, which is His Word.
Deuteronomy 4:29-31 KJV
[29] But if from thence thou shalt seek the Lord thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul. [30] When thou art in tribulation, and all these things are come upon thee, even in the latter days, if thou turn to the Lord thy God, and shalt be obedient unto his voice; [31] (For the LORD thy God is a merciful God;) he will not forsake thee, neither destroy thee, nor forget the covenant of thy fathers which he sware unto them.
Deuteronomy 4:32-39 KJV
[32] For ask now of the days that are past, which were before thee, since the day that God created man upon the earth, and ask from the one side of heaven unto the other, whether there hath been any such thing as this great thing is, or hath been heard like it? [33] Did ever people hear the voice of God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as thou hast heard, and live? [34] Or hath God assayed to go and take him a nation from the midst of another nation, by temptations, by signs, and by wonders, and by war, and by a mighty hand, and by a stretched out arm, and by great terrors, according to all that the Lord your God did for you in Egypt before your eyes? [35] Unto thee it was shewed, that thou mightest know that the Lord he is God; there is none else beside him. [36] Out of heaven he made thee to hear his voice, that he might instruct thee: and upon earth he shewed thee his great fire; and thou heardest his words out of the midst of the fire. [37] And because he loved thy fathers, therefore he chose their seed after them, and brought thee out in his sight with his mighty power out of Egypt; [38] To drive out nations from before thee greater and mightier than thou art, to bring thee in, to give thee their land for an inheritance, as it is this day. [39] Know therefore this day, and consider it in thine heart, that the Lord he is God in heaven above, and upon the earth beneath: there is none else.
That being said, let’s go back to the beginning: creation week. Let’s study the Godhead. Go back to the flood. Go back to God raising up Moses to deliver His people out of bondage. What God has done before, He will do again. He spoke the Word and it stood fast. God does not change.
First seek God in prayer, ask for the Holy Spirit to guide you into all truth, to give you understanding. Pray. Believe. Thank God in Jesus’s name. Read through His Holy Scriptures. Read Law of Love, The Love Walk on this site (baiom.org). Search for God. Search the Scriptures.
John 5:39 KJV
[39] Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.
Isaiah 8:16 KJV
[16] Bind up the testimony, seal the law among my disciples.
Luke 16:31 KJV And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 KJV
[16] All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: [17] That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
Pray God’s word back to Him as we go through this journey of being born again. Personalize His word as you pray to Him. Begin where He leads you, by just simply asking Him to guide you. He gave me Psalm 51; Daniel 9:3-19; Psalm 139:23, 24; and Psalm 119. He gave me Psalm 4, for a bedtime reading; and I pray Psalm 5 upon wakening. I put on His whole armor daily, praying through Ephesians 6:10-20. Those are a few examples of where God has led me to pray, when I asked Him. Daily try spending an hour in each of the four Gospels in the New Testament. Study Christ’s life. Focus on His last days, especially His death and resurrection. God will lead you to the Old Testament, where He first spoke, and through the prophets of His birth, His first coming, and what He would experience.
“Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name” (Psalm 103:1).
I will post again as soon as God leads me and you have had some time going through His Word. In the meantime, try daily to spend quality time in prayer and study, meditating upon God in His Word.
Behold God daily in His word. You will become changed by Him.
God bless us.
I just read your post and I will take it step by step and give my best to follow until it becomes more habital for me I,m just not consistent in doing what I know I should be doing and thats not good so keep me in prayer that God will continue to show his loving mercy and He will finish the good work he started in me.
