The just shall live by faith.
Before the close of His earthly ministry the Lord cleansed the temple; so before He closes His heavenly ministry and comes to take His own, He cleanses His temple the church-that it may meet Him without deceit at His coming.
“But who may abide the day of His coming? and who shall stand when He appeareth? for He is like a refiner’s fire, and like fullers’ soap; and He shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and He shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the LORD an offering in righteousness.” Mal. 3:2, 3.
Revelation 18 shows the desperate condition of the religious world just before the Lord comes, and the call from God is,
“Come out of her, My people.” It is a call to you to reform your life, to forsake sin and self, and to take the salvation of God.
It is by the Word that you are cleansed from sin (John 15:3) and that the Gospel is preached (1 Pet. 1:25). In Rev. 14:6-14 the Lord has given an outline of the message that is to go to every person, with the power to cleanse you so you can be a living stone in the living temple of God. It is the work that you should now be engaged in, for the day of the Lord is surely at hand, and His Word is to be set before you to prepare you to abide the day of His coming,
“Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in My holy mountain; let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the LORD cometh, for it is nigh at hand.” Joel 2:1, “Be ye clean that bear the vessels of the LORD.” Isa. 52:11.
