Dirty laundry cannot be aired-out if it is not first handled, and checked in-house—that laundry must first be washed, rinsed, and wrung out tightly.
The one dealing with sin (dirty laundry) must first not be doing, thinking, or speaking the sin themselves. There is to be no condemning of no-one. Sin must be called out for what it is. Sin must be exposed. Yet, we must be redemptive in dealing with the sinner. We must always be mindful that Christ died for all. He seeks to save the lost. We must hate sin, love sinners. This is only by the power of the Holy Spirit dwelling in us. We must remember that we were once in their shoes had it not been for Christ.
Sin privately committed is privately confessed and repented of. Sin publicly committed is dealt with publicly that all involved, all lookers and hearers know what sin is—they must know all the consequences of the sin that they might choose by faith not to do it.
We warn of the danger of the path the soul is on, the consequences. We do not judge in condemning a soul to hell—they by faith may choose to surrender to God, repent and be converted. We give them hope, point them to a better way—Christ.
We are not to be as the Scribes and Pharisees in how they dealt with the “woman taken in adultery”.
John 8:3-11 KJV
And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst, They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act. Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou? This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not. So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground. And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? Hath no man condemned thee? She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.

“Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.”
Matthew 7:1-5 KJV
If we have the Holy Spirit in us, we will see clearly to be able to deal righteously with our brethren, others concerning the disease of sin.
