Obedience Is Better Than Sacrifice

Do not omit the weightier matters of the law: Love, judgement, mercy, faith.

Obedience is better than sacrifice. Why? Because obedience unto God is loving God. All the law is love. God says, If you love me, keep my commandments, and they are not grievous.

The fact of the matter is that God’s love is defined, characterized, described, and is summed up in all His law. We are not to pick and choose what commandments we like and want to obey, yet discard the others we do not like, or do not want to keep. If we break one, we break them all (transgress them all). God requires our complete, one hundred percent surrender of self to His will.

It is by faith, and the Power of God that we can please God.

We can visit the sick and shut-in, and the incarcerated, give to the poor, feed the hungry, clothe the naked; yet Jesus will say He never knew us if we are not by faith, choosing to walk in all the law, walking after the Spirit and not after the flesh.

Let us pray asking God for His Spirit that we omit none of the law, including God’s Sabbath (7th day- Saturday); that we live by every word that procedeth out of the mouth of God. We are to be hearers and doers of God’s word—if we are truly followers of Christ.

1 Samuel 15:22-23 KJV
[22] And Samuel said, Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord ? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams. [23] For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, g and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.

Luke 11:42-44 KJV
[42] But woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass over judgment and the love of God: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone. [43] Woe unto you, Pharisees! for ye love the uppermost seats in the synagogues, and greetings in the markets. [44] Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are as graves which appear not, and the men that walk over them are not aware of them.

Matthew 23:23 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.
